From the Preface: "TO THE TEACHERS: The one and only objective of this booklet is to show you what the newspapers mentioned by Dr. Paul Chassé in his chapter on the Franco-American Press actually look like. A scrapbook if you wish!...Some were chosen for the issues that were quite particular to the Franco-Americans of the time, such as the controversy between them and their catholic bishop in the 1920's; or the great strikes in the textile mills of New England before and during the Depression Years. Still other newspapers were chosen for their literary content. And almost all of them have quaint and delightful advertisements of the epoch...."
